Green Monopoly House in Toronto, Canada

haha wow! This is an amazing life-size Green Monopoly House! This house was painted by artist An Te Liu and is located in Toronto, Canada. The house was inspired by the green plastic houses from the board game Monopoly where players can buy for $100 each and place on their properties to drive up the rent other players have to pay. Before the paint job, the house was scheduled to be demolished by a local developer. But there was a slight delay in the demolishing proceedings and An Te Liu managed to get approval to modify the house in whatever way he wanted as a form of art. He decided to paint it solid green to look just like the Monopoly houses and represent how houses are not merely for living in but are used for remortgaing, selling, and as collateral, just like in Monopoly. This representation was also inspired by the recent USA financial crisis in which many people took on mortgages that they could not sustain in hopes of increasing housing prices, but afterward house prices dropped and many were left without a home.
