Comparing the Size of Titanic with a Modern Cruise Ship

Wow! If you had previously thought that the Titanic was a big ship, then you would be surprised to find out that it is actually very small compared to modern cruise ships! The 269 meter long Titanic was built in 1909, and at the time, was the largest passenger ship ever built. It was considered unsinkable but ironically it sank in its maiden voyage in 1912. Fast forward a century and now there are many modern ships that are considerably bigger. For example, the cruise ship Oasis of the Seas is 361 meters long and considerably wider and taller! Although technology has advanced where bigger and better ships keep getting built, the Titanic will likely still remain as the iconic super ship due to its ill-fate and the many movies and documentaries filmed about it.
